Winter Safety Tips

Lakeville Heating and Cooling SystemsWinter brings freezing temperatures, icy buildup and a blanket of snow.  To help you stay safe and warm at home this winter, Minnesota Energy Resources offers the following tips:

Clear snow and ice away from exhaust vents of natural gas appliances.  This prevents carbon monoxide from entering your home.  Check all outside vents regularly to make sure they are not covered with snow or ice.

Install carbon monoxide detectors.  If you already have detectors in your home, please check that the batteries are working. An annual change of batteries is recommended.

Keep your natural gas meter clear of snow and ice.  Always use a broom to clear the natural gas meter, regulator and pipeline outside of your home; shovels can cause damage.  Also please shovel a path to yoru gas meter to allow safe, easy access for meter readers.
